Inclusion Week | March 3-7

Sunday, March 9, 5-7pm in The Dome

• Open to students (grades 6-12), HPS staff, and Community Organizations/groups.
• Six-Eight players per team (Choose one person to sign up)
• Hosted by HHS Student Senate

Come to play or come to watch! Bring a nonperishable food item to donate to Community Action House.

• Liability forms must be filled out prior to play - pick up in SSO or HHS Athletic Office or day of event.

March READ-A-THON returns. Help the Holland PTO reach a goal of $40,000.

• Weekly Prizes from Gentex (First prize: 4 Tickets to see the Grad Rapids Gold on March 16)
• Polar Patrol visit for the school with the most reading participation
• Raffle entry for every $100 in donations
• Principal Prize of $200 for the school with the most donations

For the 2024/2025 school year, HPS has been able to certify 43% of staff members in CPR/AED/1st Aid.  This includes teachers, coaches, IAs, bus drivers, food service, office staff and Administration.

This would not have been possible without the partnership with Holland Department of Public Safety - Fire Services.

Why is oral health important? 

• Globally, between 60-90% of school children experience cavities in their teeth.
• Research shows that the earlier children learn about good oral health, the better their long-term oral health will be.
• Poor oral health has been shown to impact factors such as performance at school, social skills, and self-esteem.

Here are some tips to help promote good oral care:

1. Brush your teeth at least twice a day- Use fluoride toothpaste and brush once in the morning and once at night. 
2. Limit sugary snacks and drinks- Remember to eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Drink more water and milk. 
3. Visit your dentist twice a year to help keep your teeth and gums healthy. 
4. Floss regularly to help remove plaque between your teeth. 
5. Change your toothbrush every 3 months- If the bristles on your toothbrush are looking worn, they won’t remove as much plaque.
