Holland High Back to School - Important Info

Holland High is excited to welcome students back to school for the 23/24 school year!

This news post includes important information regarding student schedules, school suppliesopen house, day 1 schedule, chromebooks, school pictures, and the required quick school meal application (breakfast and lunch are FREE for everyone this year!)

Power H Shop: The Power H Shop will open to HPS families on Thursday, August 17, 4:30-6pm (Longfellow School, State and 24th) for a Back-School-Event. Back Packs, School Supplies, Clothing, Household Items, and Community Resource Fair. All items at the event are FREE to HPS families!

School Supplies: Supplies may vary based on the courses students are taking. Teachers will communicate any course requirements during the first week of school. It’s recommended that students bring the following supplies- backpack, pens & pencils, highlighters, paper, notebooks, and pocket folders for each class. An agenda or planner may be helpful to help students stay organized and manage assignments. 

Open House: We look forward to welcoming you to Holland High School on Monday, August 21, from 4:00-6:00 pm. This time is designated for students and families to visit the building, walk their schedules and meet their teachers. This will include two 30-minute “New Student” breakout sessions in the Performing Arts Center (PAC) at 4:30 & 5:30pm. 

Class Schedules: Students will have access to view their schedules in Infinite Campus on Friday, August 18. Fill out this Google Form if you desire a change to your current class schedule. A counselor will review this request and then do one of the following: 1. Make the change and notify you via email; 2. Set up a meeting with you regarding the change; 3. Notify you that the change cannot work in your schedule. Check your email regularly to stay tuned for this communication. Do not report to the Student Success Office on the first day of school.

First Day of School: Wednesday, August 23. Doors open at 7:05am for breakfast in The Commons (FREE for all students). Classes begin at 7:45am. Day 1 schedule is below. Note, CTC (Careerline Tech Center) students & HEC students with DU (Davenport University) classes students should arrive in time for Advisory (10:05am). CTC & DU classes begin on August 28. 

1st Period: 7:45 - 8:30

2nd Period: 8:35 - 9:15

3rd Period: 9:20 - 10:00

Advisory: 10:05 - 11:05

A Lunch: 11:05 - 11:40

4A Period: 11:45 - 12:25

4B Period: 11:10 - 11:50

B Lunch: 11:50 - 12:25

5th Period: 12:30 - 1:10

6th Period: 1:15 - 1:55*

*This school year has an early release on all Wednesdays. The high school day ends at 1:55pm on these days. All other days end at 2:55pm.

Chromebooks: Students will receive Chromebooks on August 23 (Day 1) during Advisory. If you did not turn in your Chromebook and/or charger last year, please bring it with you.   

School Pictures: Picture Day will take place during the school day on Thursday, August 24 (Day 2).  Pictures will take place during English classes.  

Free Meals: HPS will provide students with 1 breakfast & 1 lunch each school day at no-cost to them ("free"). Families still need to completed the application https://holland.familyportal.cloud/. Without the applications our district risks losing very important state funding.
