School Picture Reminder:  Don't forget school pictures will be taken today during the school day. Monday's schedule will include classes from the D wing along with the Performing Arts dept.  A complete schedule will be shared with teachers. Teachers will be escorting their class to the Commons at their scheduled time.  Remote Learner's - Your pictures will be taken today from 3:00 - 5:30 p.m. in the Commons.   Masks are required except while your picture is being taken.  Please observe social distancing.

Hand2Hand: We would like to offer your student the opportunity to participate in a program at Holland High called "Hand2Hand."  This program helps provide a student with food for the weekends and is intended for families who currently may be experiencing a financial burden.  The first backpack is set to be delivered on September 10, 2020.  To sign up, please come to the Student Success Office for a permission slip that needs to be signed by a parent/guardian.  Thank you.

 

Air Force Training: The Air Force is the only branch with our own college, Community College of the Air Force. Everyone automatically gets enrolled in a degree program during job technical training, and you also receive 100% free tuition assistance while you're in the Air Force, to go to college wherever you want. Sports

Men’s Tennis: Holland High hosted their first quad of the season. It was a tight battle for the team trophy, with DeWitt edging the Dutch by a score of 21 to 18. Kalamazoo Central took third place with 6 points, followed by East Kentwood with 3 points. Holland won the following flights: Neil VanFaasen at #1 singles, Cristian Castro at #3 singles, and the #1 doubles team of Matt Huizinga and Elliot Wehrmeyer. Finishing as flight runner-ups were Sean Ruhf at #2 singles, Carter Lynch at #4 singles, the #2 doubles team of Danny VanRavenswaay and Sam Payne, and the #4 doubles team of Micah Babinski and Alex Marko. Jason Kamphuis and Aiden Sin also went 1-0 on the day, defeated East Kentwood 6-0, 6-0. "I am very pleased with how we played today," said Holland coach Kyle Kreps. "We competed hard and put ourself in contention. We continue to get better each time we're on court and that's all we are looking to do." Holland will head to GR Union on Monday.

Women’s Cross Country: The Lady Dutch Cross Country traveled to Spring Lake on Saturday, August 29th to race in the Spring Lake Quad on the beautiful Mel Hall cross country course. The team placed third with 76 points, behind two very talented teams in Spring Lake and Sparta. Senior Olivia DeGraaf, 21:40.06, led the way for Holland, finishing 7th overall and improved her time by 1 minute 5 seconds from last week. Junior Julia Kooyer, 22:06.42, finished second for Holland and 9th overall, Julia improved her season best by 1 minute 36 seconds. Junior transfer Brisa Sanchez-Valdez, 24:29.8, in her first race of the season finished third for Holland and 25th overall. Sophomore Meredith Walters, 24:32.7, finished close behind Sanchez-Valdez in 27th place and fourth for the Lady Dutch. Walters improved her seasons best by a whopping, 3 minutes 1 second! Great Job Meredith! Sophomore Alisa Mason, 26:49.18, battled home fifth for the Dutch and 39th overall. Freshman Abby Wilson, 27:50.35 & Rylee Boersen, 28:46.89 both ran huge PR's. While Freshman Kaydence Vesper, 28:10.8, Honalhlee Smith, 40:08.33 and Senior Lily Sharp, 28:51.05 competed for the first time in 2020. Men’s Cross Country: The Boys’ Cross Country team traveled to the Mel Hall Cross Country course on the grounds of Spring Lake High on Saturday, August 29th to compete in the Spring Lake Quad. The Dutch placed third running against Spring Lake and Sparta, two very talented and veteran Division 2 teams. Sophomores Adrian Castillo, 17:18.64 and Dylan Chmura, 17:27.60, finished first and second for the Dutch and 4th & 5th overall respectively. Both Castillo and Chmura ran season Pr's. Sophomores Brayden Snyder, 18:32.57 and Jack Voss, 18:40.01 were third and fourth for Holland and 14th & 16th overall. Snyder ran a season PR and Voss ran an 18 second career PR. Well run guys!! Junior Hunter Tripp, 19:09.6, finished 5th for Holland and 20th overall. Freshman Noah Lambers, 19:29.53, Josh Villa 19:31.82, Harrison Kooyer, 19:47.33 all dipped under 20 minutes and ran career PR's. Freshman Henry Mulder, 20:15.16, Senior Leif Christensen, 20:41.07 and Sophomore Hunter Johnson, 20:54.55 all ran faster than 21 minutes.
