Honoring Veterans: Holland High School’s 88th Annual Veterans Day Assembly
Holland High School is proud to continue a Veterans Day tradition of honoring the brave individuals who have served in the armed forces. Veterans Day, observed every November 11, is a time to recognize the dedication, loyalty, and sacrifices made by veterans to protect our freedoms and uphold our nation’s values. Taking time to express gratitude can make a lasting impact, not only on veterans but also on our own sense of community and shared history.
Dutch Theatre Presents: The SpongeBob Musical
The SpongeBob Musical is a vibrant, family-friendly stage show based on the popular cartoon, featuring SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy, Squidward, and others as they team up to save Bikini Bottom from a volcanic eruption.

The show is celebrated for its creative set design, colorful costumes, and an eclectic soundtrack with songs by artists like David Bowie, Cyndi Lauper, and John Legend.

Firearm Safety and Harm Prevention
Legal ownership of firearms comes with important safety responsibilities to prevent accidental firearm injuries and deaths, thefts, and suicide, including among children.
- Under House Bill 5451, beginning October 1, 2025, Michigan law will require school districts to distribute a safe storage informational notice—developed by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)—to the parent or legal guardian of each student each October.

HPS Students and Staff will celebrate the kickoff of Hispanic Heritage Month on Friday night. This week, we talk with HLA Principal Iliana Vasquez about the 5th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Community Celebration
7-Day Meal Box
HPS is proud to provide 7-Day Meal Boxes to families in the district during the summer months.
Each box will contain a menu with food prep instructions and food items for 7 breakfasts and 7 lunches per week.
- Meal pick-up will be located at Central Wesleyan Church (446 West 40th St. Holland MI 49423 - Door A) from 12:00-1:00 PM
- Thursday, June 12 through August 7, 2025
There is no need to register for these meals... just stop by during the pick-up time to receive the meals for your student(s).
Herrick District Library Summer Reading Challenge - 2025
This summer, Herrick District Library, Ottawa County Parks and Recreation, and the City of Holland Recreation Department are coming together to present the 2025 Summer Reading Challenge: The Truth is Out There.
- Pick up a trail map beginning June 9 to complete the challenge. Maps are available at either Herrick District Library location.
Five-Year Facility Plan - Public Meeting
HPS Families and members of the Holland Community will have one more chance to give input on the district's five-year facility plan on Monday, May 12, 3:45pm at Holland Language Academy. Superintendent Nick Cassidy will discuss:
- Phase 1 of the Plan (Redistricting K-5 buildings)
- Phase 2 of the Plan (Building Renovations, Facility Construction, and Use of Existing Facilities)
- Results of a Community Survey
This meeting was originally scheduled to happen on Monday, April 28 but was cancelled to give additional time to gather more/better information about the Facility Plan.
District Art Show
The HPS Art Department is proud to show the incredible works of art created by students from all HPS buildings.
- May 1-15 in the Art Gallery at Holland High School
An Opening Night reception will be held on May 1, 4:30-6pm in the Art Gallery at Holland High School.

NHS Blood Drive
High School students account for 30% of Versiti's Blood Supply. The impact students can make on our hospitals is invaluable.
- Wednesday, November 13 | 8am-2pm at the District Admin Building.
- Hosted by National Honor Society
- Walk-ins welcome, as schedule allows.
- Donate and receive a one-of-a-kind Nirvana-inspired t-shirt, while supplies last.
