April News

Dear Jefferson Families,

Welcome to April! We are so excited to have our Jefferson students back from Spring Break! With April comes our very busy testing season. Read our M-STEP testing schedule and tips for helping your student be successful below.

With only two months of school remaining, it is very important for our Jefferson students to stay consistent with school routines both at school and at home. Each week our students review one of our school-wide POWER expectations. POWER stands for PrideOwn Your ActionsWise ChoicesEngaged, and Respect. You can help us at home by ensuring that our Jefferson students get healthy meals and stick to a consistent and appropriate bedtime schedule!

Thank you to everyone who has supported Jefferson this year by volunteering at our building! Multiple opportunities to volunteer will be opening up from now through the end of the year, so please be on the lookout for more information.

As always, please contact our administrative team with any questions or concerns!

Warmly,

Sara Folkert, Principal

Jennifer Heinritz, Assistant Principal

M-Step Testing

For the next few weeks our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students will be taking M-STEP, which is the Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress. Please help us support our Jefferson students with a successful testing experience by doing the following: Get a good night of sleep, eat breakfast at home or at school, arrive on-time to school, bring healthy snacks on testing days, and bring a full water bottle. Below are the grade-level testing dates:

  • 3rd Grade: April 22, 23, May 6

  • 4th Grade: April 22, 23, May 7

  • 5th Grade: April 15, 17, 22, 23

Tulip Time Parade

Jefferson students in grades 1-5 are invited to represent our school in this year’s KinderParade. The KinderParade will be held on Thursday, May 8. Students will be bussed from Jefferson to the parade beginning point. Parents will be given a designated pick-up location to meet students after the parade. In order to march, your child must have a permission slip and costume. Both can be found at this link: https://www.hollandpublicschools.org/pub/news/posts/3162

Help us make this year’s KinderParade the best ever!!
