Jefferson's October News

Dear Jefferson Families,

Welcome to Fall Y’all! October has flown by with so many great events– Conferences, HPS football, and our Jefferson Fall Fest! Thank you to all of our amazing Jefferson families who have made these events a great success!!

This week is Halloween! Students may wear orange and black to celebrate, but please leave costumes at home! On Friday, November 1st there is no school for students because our awesome staff will be involved in professional development during the day.

Our first PBIS Party is coming up in November! PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, and makes up the foundation for how we support students at Jefferson. This year classes can earn a monthly celebration by collecting Power H tickets in their PBIS Party jar. Power H tickets are awarded to students who are following the POWER expectations– Pride, Own Your Actions, Wise Choices, Engaged, and Respect. November’s PBIS Party is a Movie, Popcorn and PJ Party. Each classroom has to save 200 Power H tickets to earn the reward!! We already have a couple classrooms who have met the goal! Ask your child if their class has earned a PBIS Party!

Another way Jefferson students use the Power H Tickets that they collect is by visiting our Power H Store on Fridays. Our Jefferson Power H Store is stocked with a wide range of items that students can “purchase” with their saved tickets. Students LOVE visiting the store!! We are always looking for volunteers to help run the store! Sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0D4EADA728A6FD0-52763377-jefferson.

One way that we make Jefferson even better is by asking families to complete a Family Climate Survey. The results of this survey are used to guide our next steps when making improvements to academic supports, behaviors supports and more! Please take a few minutes and give us your input!! https://www.pbisassessment.org/Anon/7YG201gG4W0

The weather is starting to turn colder. Please remember to send a light jacket or hoodie for the cool mornings. Winter outdoor clothing will be available for those in need on Thursday, November 7 at Maplewood School, 925 Central Ave.

Jefferson’s amazing PTO needs YOU!! Please consider joining the PTO to help support our school, staff and students. The PTO helps plan and run special events like the Book Fair, fundraisers, Glow Party, staff appreciation week and more! Email Shauna Speet at shauna.speet@gmail.com.

As always, please contact our administrative team with any questions or concerns!

Warmly,

Sara Folkert, Principal
