Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Bus Expectations

We are excited to announce that beginning with the 2024-2025 school year, Holland Public Schools will be implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Bus Expectations across our district's transportation services. This initiative aims to create a safe, respectful, and responsible environment for all students who utilize our school buses.

PBIS is a proactive approach that we have successfully integrated into our schools, and extending these expectations to our transportation system is the next step in ensuring a consistent and positive experience for our students. The PBIS framework focuses on teaching and reinforcing appropriate behaviors, preventing disciplinary issues, and enhancing overall student safety and well-being.

We believe that the success of this program relies heavily on the collaboration between our dedicated transportation staff and you, our valued parents and guardians. Your involvement and support are crucial as we work together to reinforce these positive behaviors both at home and on the bus.

Here's how you can support the PBIS Bus Expectations:

  1. Discuss Behavior Expectations with Your Child: Take time to talk with your child about the importance of following the bus rules, such as being respectful to the driver and fellow passengers, staying seated, and speaking in a quiet voice.  (see below)

  2. Model Positive Behavior: Children often imitate the behavior they see. By modeling respectful and responsible behavior, you help reinforce the importance of these values.

  3. Stay Informed and Engaged: Look out for updates and information from the school regarding PBIS initiatives and how you can get involved. Attending parent meetings and providing feedback will be invaluable.

We are confident that with your cooperation, the implementation of PBIS Bus Expectations will lead to a more positive and effective transportation experience for all students. We look forward to this partnership and are excited about the positive impact it will have on our school community.

If you have any questions or would like more information about PBIS and how it will be applied to our bus services, please do not hesitate to contact our transportation department or your child's school.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our students' success.
