Hot Start to the School Year
The heat index could be near 100 degrees for the first few days of school.
We’re expecting our first few days of school to be HOT. Temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday are predicted to be in the 90s, with a heat index at or about 100º!
We want you to know that all of our buildings have air conditioning. Administrators will closely watch the weather conditions and make decisions about outdoor activities with student safety as the top concern. Teachers will also encourage students to drink plenty of water throughout the day.
Here are a few things you can do to help:
- Make sure your student is dressed appropriately for HOT temperatures
- Make sure your student comes to school with a water bottle.
- If possible, pick your student up after school rather than having them ride the bus.
If your child has a health concern that could be impacted by the heat, please let the school know.
Remember our first day of school is an EARLY RELEASE WEDNESDAY with student dismissal at:
- K-5 | 8:30am-2:36pm
- HMS | 7:30am-1:42pm
- HHS | 7:45am - 1:55pm
Buses will run exactly 60-minutes earlier than the time posted in your Parent Portal.
The first day of school is exciting, but it can also be stressful - even for bus drivers. They have a difficult job and are doing their best to get everyone to and from school safely. If buses are running a bit behind schedule, please show our drivers some grace. You can help keep buses running on schedule by getting kids to the bus stop on time and by snapping 1st-Day-of-school pictures before the bus arrives!
We can’t wait to see full buses again tomorrow morning!
