Meet the Vocals
Owen Baer - Owen (he/him) is a junior and in his second year in Vocals. He is a member of the Varsity tennis team as well as NHS, National Arts Honors Society, and Student Senate. In his free time, he enjoys hanging out with friends, lifting weights, and listening to music.
Alec Burgess - Alec (he/him) is a senior and in his third year in Vocals. He participates in the Varsity swim team and is involved in the HHS Theater program. He enjoys working and making pizza at his workplace, Crust 54. In his free time, he loves watching movies, reading, and duck herding.
Royce Cano - Royce (he/him) is a senior and in his second year in Vocals. He is a captain on the varsity tennis team and is on the varsity swim team. He is also involved in the High school Theatre program and is very excited for his upcoming show The Wizard of Oz!. He enjoys working at Doebs Pizzeria, bird watching during golden hour, and surfing. He plans to study at GVSU next year and major in education.
Ambria DePoy - Ambria (she/her) is a senior and in her second year of Vocals. She is a member of the National Honors Society, and Varsity Cross Country and Soccer teams. She enjoys the beach with Jacob Torres, and their wiener dog, Tina, who they share custody of. She plans to attend Western Michigan University this fall to major in Nursing, with plans of becoming a Nurse Anesthetist.
Abby Hart - Abby (she/her) is a junior and in her second year in Vocals. She is a part of HHS theatre and is very excited for their next show The Wizard of Oz! She also enjoys going for drives, watching movies, reading, doing crafts, and spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoys making music!
Ahava Lefebre - Ahava (she/her) is a junior and in her second year in Vocals. She is a co-communication chair for Student Senate, co-founder and president of the Dutch Athletics Leadership Committee, member of National Honors Society as well as a co-captain on the girls varsity tennis team here at HHS. If she's not on the tennis court she can be found sitting by the pool with her beloved golden retriever, Dutch, or watching the Michigan Wolverines basketball and football teams. There's nothing in the world Ahava loves more than her people, her Chipotle, and her Wolverines. Go Blue!
Chris Logan - Chris (he/him) is a sophomore and in his first year in Vocals. He is involved in Quiz Bowl and Theatre at HHS. In his time off, he enjoys late night game nights with friends and family, Hiking, photography, and napping with his beagle, Bailey.
Ka’Shay Louks - Ka’Shay (she/her) is a sophomore in her first year in Vocals. She is involved in Teen Court, Forensics, and Dutch Theatre. The theater department is currently performing The Wizard of Oz, where she is the dance captain. In her free time, Ka’Shay loves to read and bake desserts, especially cookies and cakes! Her favorites are Some Shall Break, along with chocolate chip cookies.
Xavier Murphy - Xavier (he/him) is a junior and in his second year in Vocals. He plays basketball and baseball. During his free time, he likes to hang out with friends, work at Panera Bread, and listen to music. He is a part of Youth of the Year for Boys and Girls Club. His favorite candy is Sour Patch.
Sofia Palmateer - Sofia (she/her) is a senior and in her second year in Vocals. She is part of the National Honors Society, Holland Dutch Theatre, and enjoys working downtown Saugatuk at Glik’s. She is excited to be performing in The Wizard of Oz this spring! She is currently taking dual-enrollment courses at Hope College, working towards a Spanish major. She hopes to attend college and double major in Social Work and Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends and family, volunteering in her community, and playing the piano and guitar.
Jakiya Patton - Jakiya (she/her) is a senior and in her second year in Vocals. She’s a co-dance captain in Vocals, involved in varsity cheerleading and tennis, and is a part of the Holland Early College Program. She’s currently attending Hope College to get a degree in Early Education. She enjoys hanging out with friends and family, volunteering with kids, and working as a cashier at Meijer.
Luke Rund-Scott - Luke (he/him) is a sophomore and in his first year in Vocals. He is a soccer player on the Holland High team and volunteers at his church in the nursery and youth group. In his free time, he likes to spend time with his family outdoors. He also loves to tear it up on the field with his buddies for school or club soccer.
Timothy Salazar - Timothy (Him) is a senior and in his second year in Vocals. He attends his church every Sunday and Wednesday which is his favorite place to be. He enjoys spending time with family and friends; watching movies; and eating his favorite snacks like sour Skittles. Next year he plans to attend college and major in chemical engineering.
Adelle Snyder - Adelle (she/her) is a senior and in her third year in Vocals. She is involved in Varsity Cross Country, Basketball, and Soccer at Holland High. She likes babysitting and working at Cranes in the City. In her free time, she likes to go to coffee shops and on adventures with her friends. She plans to study dietetics at Central Michigan next year.
Jacob Torres - Jacob (he/him) is a senior and in his third year of Vocals. Jacob is a co-dance captain of vocals and loves to play sports, spending as much time with Ambria and his miniature dachshund, and taking long sprints on the beach. He is the captain of the varsity football team and is a part of the varsity baseball team. He is a proud father of a miniature dachshund named Tina. He plans on going to study Respiratory Therapy at Kalamazoo Valley next year.
Lan Tran - Lan (she/her) is a junior and in her first year of Vocals. She’s a member of the SHORE club, involved in the National Honors Society, and is a senior member of the HHS Marching Band’s color guard. She enjoys working at Crumbl, volunteering at Resilience, spinning her flag, and spending time talking to friends and family. In the summer, you’ll either find her at band practice or taking midday naps.
Remi VanFarowe - Remi (she/her) is a senior and in her first year of Vocals. She is a captain of the Varsity Basketball team, and a member of the Tennis team. She is also involved in SHORE club, Teen Court, and National Honors Society. Outside of school she enjoys her job as a barista at Foxtail Coffee and being with friends and family. After high school, she plans to work as a summer camp counselor and then attend college to major in Spanish.
Olivia Zoet - Olivia (she/her) is a junior and in her first year in Vocals. She is a member and the junior service chair of National Honors Society as well as a part of Dutch Theatre where she is co-dance captain for The Wizard of Oz here at the high school. Outside of school, she loves spending time with friends and family, learning guitar, working at Jean Marie’s, and continuing to grow her relationship with Christ.
Meet the Directors
Sarah Malone | Director - Holland High’s Director of Choirs has been teaching choir in the public schools for 18 years and has been teaching in the Holland Public Schools since 2010. She founded the West Michigan Children’s Choir in 2010 and currently co-directs the choir with Kristin Goodyke and MJ Koedyker. She is a 2006 graduate of Hope College and has a Master of Music Education degree from Cleveland State University. Sarah studies voice with Nicholas Loren and sings in the Holland Chorale. She enjoys spending time with her husband Ryan, and they both stay busy with their twin eleven-year-old daughters, Abbie and Ellen, as well as their two dogs, Quincy and Norby.
Shari Munger | Accompanist - Holland High’s staff accompanist has been working with students of all ages for more than 30 years as an accompanist, vocal jazz, and children’s choir director at the local and state levels. Since moving to Holland, MI almost 11 years ago, she has continued her private piano and voice studio that began in Sarasota, Florida. When not spending time with her husband, Garland, their tuxedo cat Louis, and combined 5 children and 6 grandchildren, Shari enjoys cooking, reading political biographies, and watching classic movies.
Brianne Roux | Choreographer/Stage Director - Brianne has been a choreographer and stage director for Vocals since 2014. She is a Holland High alumna and taught Spanish Immersion for 5 years in Holland Public Schools before transitioning to mental health counseling with Bethany Christian Services in 2021. Brianne enjoys traveling and spending time outside with her husband Randy, daughter Addy, and son Henry, as well as reading and doing creative projects.
Kaleigh Smith | Choreographer/ASL Interpreter - Kaleigh is a ASL Interpreter who holds a Bachelors of Science degree in ASL Interpreting from Siena Heights University, and an EIPA 4.0+ certification level with over ten years of experience in her field. This is her sixth year working in the Holland district and third year interpreting in the high school. She has contributed to Holland’s performing arts through the choreographing of Sister Act (2022), and the unique opportunity with this year’s Vocal Dimensions to choreograph a piece that blends the beauty of ASL with dance. As an active performer herself she loves the opportunity to combine her passions for Sign Language, theatre, and dance into one cohesive, visual art for all to enjoy.
Cora Grissom | Choreographer - Cora has choreographed for Vocals for the past two years. She is a Holland High alumna and currently is at Grand Valley State University studying Allied Health Sciences on the Pre-Physical Therapy track. In her free time, she enjoys spending time in nature, with friends, and dancing in GVSU’s Dance Troupe Club.
Landyn Beal | Choreographer - Landyn graduated from Holland High School in 2018 as a 2 year alumni of Vocal Dimensions. He served as the dance captain in 2018 and has remained as a choreographer over the last 7 years. He is now married and working at Central Wesleyan Church. His favorite part of the role is seeing students become confident in their ability to perform.
Joel School-Tanis | Guest Host - Joel is a proud Vocal Dimensions alum and the father of two HPS students. He can trace his time in Vocals as leading to years in the local band The Voice, as well as writing music for the kids TV show "Come On Over!" for which he and VD alum Paul Chamness won an Emmy Award. He is a full time visual artist.
