Welcome to Holland Heights
At Holland Heights, our behavior expectations are described in the matrix P-O-W-E-R. Our staff has been teaching what POWER stands for so that every student can memorize, recite, and demonstrate positive behavior.
Here’s what POWER stands for:
P-Pride | We care about self, others, work
O-Own Your Actions | We are responsible and honest
W- Wise Choices | We think before acting
E- Engaged | We are focused and involved in learning
R-Respect | Be Nice
We believe it is important for each parent to be aware of these expectations so you can support our efforts at home.

HPS is a MI HEARTSafe School District
The Michigan Alliance for Prevention of Sudden Cardiac Death of the Young is recognizing HPS as a MI HEARTSafe School District. West, Holland Heights, Jefferson, and Holland Middle School received the award for the first time, HLA was awarded last year, and Holland High School has been awarded a HEARTSafe designation four times.
- To receive the award schools must have:
- A Medical Emergency Response Plan
- A Medical Emergency Response Team
- CPR/AED Training for staff
- Accessible and Maintained AEDs
In the last year, over 130 staff members have been CPR/AED trained with another 70 for the near future.
Students and Staff at HPS are safer because of the hard work of our Holland Hospital School Nurses, the Holland Fire Department, Safety Director Joe Soto, the Michigan Alliance for Prevention of Sudden Cardiac Death of the Young, and Project Adam (Automated Defibrillators in Adam' Memory)

HOWEVER, when students need a milk to go along with a sack breakfast/lunch brought from home, that milk will cost the student .75 cents. (State funding allows us to provide full meals at no cost to students, but does not pay for à la carte menu items for students.)
If your student wants an à la carte milk to go along with a sack breakfast/lunch, please be sure add funds to their student account, or bring exact change.
If you have any questions or concerns, or need help with the account, please contact our Nutrition Services Department at 616.494.2245. Thank you for understanding!

Welcome Back to Holland Heights
I am excited for the start of the 2024-25 school year!!! As you all know we are currently doing school at Longfellow, since our school is in the process of some amazing new construction. Things will be a little different as far as the building goes, but the same great learning and behavior expectations will continue for all of us at Longfellow. Don't forget that we will also be starting school at 8:15am and ending at 3:21pm which is 15 minutes earlier than last year. All Wednesday's are still early release days and that ends at 2:21 PM.
Most of you will have access to busing, so make sure to check the parent portal to see what time and where your child will be picked up and dropped off every day. I am going to strongly suggest that at the end of the day you have your child ride the bus home, since our location at Longfellow isn't the best for a lot of cars waiting to pick up kids from school. It will be busy at the end of the day, so if you must pick up your child, please be patient and expect to wait a little.
Open House is Tuesday Aug. 20 from 4-6 PM so we hope to see you there to walk the building and meet your teacher!!!
Enjoy these last few days of summer break and we will see you soon!!!

If you have a behavior or academic concern for your child that needs the attention of a multidisciplinary problem-solving team, please complete the Holland Heights Behavior/Academic Work Order and someone will be in touch with you.
Volunteer at Heights:
We love when parents or guardians get involved. Make sure to fill out the district volunteer form (once each school year) and return it to the office.
